Abstract

This study presents news about mechanisms of antibody responses and cell-mediated immunity in the human placenta. The cytokines such as TNFs, ILs, CSFs, produced by the placental cells, may play a role in protection against viral pathogens. The immunological function at the materno/fetal interface probably is associated with a phase of embryonic development.
