Abstract
The most frequent cancer amongst women is that of the breast. Tumor markers may be helpful in the early diagnosis of breast cancer and the initial assessment of the extent of disease, as well as in monitoring tumor growth or volume reduction, and a recurrence of cancer. They have also been used for monitoring the clinical course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. In this paper we focus on the role of tumor markers such as CA 15-3, CEA, and TPS in breast cancer diagnostics, including cytokines and molecular markers of carcinogenesis. We also show the prognostic signifi cance of markers tested in breast cancer biopsies.
